Beavers as drought consultants

By October 19, 2009March 19th, 2015No Comments

Beavers are perhaps the original drought management professionals. Besides human beings, beavers (and possibly elephants) do more to alter their own habitats than most species. The Salt Lake Tribune, in conjunction with the Utah Division of Wildlife  Resources has put together an educational video that discusses the role of beaver dams in slowing snowmelt, lengthening the period of wetness for growing seasons, and creating safe habitat for other species. We should be so effective.
