Two recent cases of maltreatment have prompted Oregon officials to initiate the state’s first ever study of how children in foster care are neglected or abused, reports Ruth Liao of the Statesman Journal.
A team of law enforcement agents, youth organizations and foster care programs have been asked by the Oregon Department of Home Services to find ways to prevent abuse of agency children. The review process includes randomly sampling foster families who have served at least five years, as well as reviewing cases of foster care abuse that were previously closed.
Reports from the state’s Critical Incident Response Team, which detailed the sexual abuse of one adoptive child, as well as the neglect of six medically fragile infants, led DHS officials to call for such an investigation. Some beleive that Oregon’s child-welfare policies have long needed an overhaul, a state where the rate of foster child abuse is double the national average, said Carol Jones, president of the National Foster Parent Association.

What prompted an investigation? DHS has been so exposed here in Oregon but not one official has ever been prosecuted for the abuse,the selling of children,caseworkers making porn videos with foster mother,its all been in the record,court records,hidden from the public by corrupt judges,DA’,caseworkers,a horrific case exposed by Will and Pamela Gaston years and years ago.Why no investigation for them and their little girl? Lets get that case investigated and the guilty ones put in prison,no matter what title they hold,govenor,DA,caseworker,judge,foster parent,ect.I hope this so called investigation stirs up a pot that has been boiling for Oregon families/children for years.
My children have been taken by DHS,I would like to know where I can find statistics on the abuses and lawsuits for Oregon and Medford.Can anyone help with this!!!!
Oregon has twice the of abuse reporting because people who live here actually give a damn about children and REPORT more often than any other state. It is NOT because the foster care program is bad. Are far as “Bobbie Hudson’s” comments here, all I have to say is what a lying sack of crap and needs to get back on his or her medication.
