The non profit group Save Mount Diablo has purchased a 165-acre estate on the Contra Costa County mountain near Walnut Creek and Concord.
Their aim is to add the land eventually to the Mount Diablo State Park — which, as luck would have it, the state is considering closing to patch its budget gaps.
Save Mount Diablo wants to boost open space on and around the mountain to 90,000 acres, whose wonders were described by San Francisco Chronicle staff writer Kevin Fagan.
